Classes

  1. It is a Full-fledged course comprising classes covering all sections of the subject from basic to applied dimensions.
  2. It caters to every student even without a background of History.
  3. Classes will cover aspects of the syllabus like Historiography, Art and Culture and in-depth analysis of the Social and Economic Dimensions of History giving the student the requisite ability to face the exam.
  4. Relevant supplementary material will be provided in a format which will help students revise quickly prior to the exam.
  5. Class lectures will include open discussions, debates and interactions which will help the students develop a vision of history helping them to build perspectives which will help in their answer writing.
  6. Map pointing section will be integrated with the general Lecture helping the students develop a Spatial and temporal understanding of the flow of History.
  7. World History section will integrate the current developments which will give an extra edge to students to answer interpretative and open-ended questions.
  8. Most importantly how to use History knowledge in General Studies will be taught as 60% of History overlaps with General studies syllabus.
  9. This will ensure that students will easily sail through prelims and also help them in getting a firm grip over other general studies topics as History forms the basis of all Humanities.  
  10. The classroom will integrate the techniques of reading standard textbooks by developing the right UPSC discretion which differentiates an administrator from an academician.
  11. The classroom programme will also include regular Previous paper discussions which anchor the course to the demands of UPSC.   

Tests

  1. There will be 12 tests (8 Sectional and 4 Simulated tests)
  2. Tests will be evaluated through a unique part-wise system which will make students capable of self-evaluation. This will improve their judgment in differentiating a good and bad answer.
  3. Test questions will be discussed after evaluation giving students the standard approach in UPSC to fetch more marks.
  4. Technology-mediated appointments for further clarifications of doubts if any.
  5. Tests will help the students to answer the questions with a complete understanding of the demand of the question both the stated and hidden dimensions of the questions.

History Optional Quality Improvement Programme for Mains 2019:

The programme is designed for students who have a basic understanding and outline of history. The course innovatively integrates Tests with Quality Improvement classes. It will help the students align their preparation with the demands of UPSC.

Test component

  1. There will be 12 tests (8 Sectional and 4 Simulated tests)

Quality Improvement Classes

  1. These classes provide students with the requisite content and depth required in the subject.
  2. These classes will be conducted after every sectional test to help them better integrate the applied dimensions over the basic dimensions.
  3. The Quality Improvement classes also help the aspirants develop a historical perspective to bring a new depth in their answers.
  4. Special emphasis will be given to Map Pointing and Sections of history which have the potential to deliver better returns.
  5. Special emphasis will be given to the analytical aspects of history and classes will include discussions on Previous Years Questions.
