What is the National Data Quality Forum?

  • NDQF is a multi-stakeholder collaborative platform for a sustained dialogue among the producers and consumers of demographic and health data in India on issues related to data quality and potential solutions, and for supporting institutionalization of promising solutions.
  • Approach of NDQF
    • Convene and equip stakeholders in research and data analytics with a deeper understanding of data quality and tools to communicate and advocate for enhanced quality, and support them to execute data quality related activities within their agencies.
    • Build capacity and in-house expertise in institutions and individuals to implement robust data quality assurance (DQA) activities and extend technical assistance to implement DQA protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
    • Generate novel solutions for improving data quality through the development and testing of innovations
    • The forum is housed at and led by the National Institute of Medical Statistics (NIMS) – an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) institute
    • The forum aims to partner with various government institutions, agencies and ministries for identifying opportunities to build systems for ensuring data quality, further leading to equipping institutions with solutions and strategies to contribute to data quality improvement. Potential partners include, but not limited to: International institute of population sciences, National statistics office, NITI Aayog, Registrar general of India.
  • NDQF will be guided by a Steering Committee, consisting of representatives from the government and subject experts who will determine the course and approach for the forum based on global learning and local requirements.
  • Technical Advisory Group, including technical experts/practitioners who will help to translate the vision and goals of the NDQF into concrete action points.
